HELOA Wales is a professional association consisting of staff from all 12 Welsh higher education institutions, covering North, Mid and South Wales. Our members work across a wide range of functions – schools and colleges liaison, student recruitment, widening participation, marketing, and student services.
We work in collaboration to offer timely and balanced information, advice and guidance to prospective higher education students, their families, and schools & colleges.
There are other higher education institutions located in Wales who are not listed here as they are not HELOA members. For full details of all HE providers in the region please see the UCAS website.

Group Chair
Tom Hay, Cardiff University
Email: hayti4@cardiff.ac.ukSince graduating in 2001, Tom has held a variety of positions in the higher education sector in Wales and is currently theHead of Postgraduate Recruitment at Cardiff University. He has been a member of HELOA for eight years and became Chair in August 2012 following previous roles as Treasurer and Vice-Chair for the Wales group.

David Moyle, Aberystwyth University
Email: dom@aber.ac.ukDavid graduated from the department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University in 2004. After a short spell working for a local authority in Cheshire, David returned to Aberystwyth to undertake a post with the University’s Schools Liaison Team. He is currently the University’s Schools & Colleges Liaison Manager and took up the position as Vice-Chair in August 2012 having previously served as Chair of HELOA Wales.

Llinos Angharad Williams, Bangor University
Email: l.a.williams@bangor.ac.ukLlinos previously worked for Aim Higher Wales before becoming a Schools Liaison Officer for Bangor University. She has been a member of HELOA for six years. Her main duties include organising the joint HELOA Wales Study in Wales stand, minuting meetings and circulating information amongst HELOA Wales members.

Gemma Williamson, Swansea University
Email: g.williamson@swansea.ac.ukGemma graduated with a degree in English and American Studies from Swansea University in 2005 and is due to complete a part-time Masters in Journalism later this year. After a brief period of travelling and a temporary contract with PR agency, MGB PR, she joined Swansea University’s central Marketing department in early 2007, and gained experience of corporate communications, web development, admissions and alumni relations before joining the Student Recruitment team in March 2011.

Welcome from Group Chair

We work in collaboration to offer timely and balanced information, advice and guidance to prospective higher education students, their families, and schools & colleges.
HELOA Wales is committed to the National Executive’s Vision 2015 and has developed its own regional action plan to work towards the Vision’s goals. The following aims underpin HELOA Wales’ mission:
- Promoting the benefits of higher education to prospective students of all ages, irrespective of their educational, cultural and social backgrounds;
- Working collectively and with other agencies to ensure free access to information and guidance for potential students, their families, and schools & colleges;
- Providing honest and impartial support so that students can make considered personal choices regarding courses and institutions;
- Fostering links with other higher education stakeholders.
