Angela has worked in the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team at Aston University since November 2005 and became a member of HELOA shortly after. Angela was elected as Midlands Group Chair in January 2012 and her role includes chairing 4 group meetings per year, co-ordinating HELOA activity for the Midlands region and representing the views and activity of the group at UK Committee meetings.Group Vice-Chair, Training
Jonathan Tinnacher, University of Leicester

He co-ordinates our annual training day and makes arrangements for regular training sessions to follow each regional meeting. Group Vice-Chair, Partnerships
Tim Fuller, Staffordshire University
Email: Tim.Fuller@staffs.ac.ukTim has been a member of HELOA for a number of years and is now Vice Chair with responsibility for Partnerships and Development. His role is to develop the relationship with organisations such as the Student Finance Company and NASMA as well as with other HELOA regions and within the Midlands group itself. Part of his role at the moment is to encourage the FE colleges to join the regional meeting to ensure a similar message is being communicated regarding all the changes in Higher Education. Tim is happy to receive information from all regarding what HELOA and especially the Midlands region can do for them.
Group Secretary
Will Cooling, University of Leicester
Email: wic1@leicester.ac.ukWill works within the University of Leicester’s Student Recruitment Department as their Widening Participation Policy Officer, leading on the evaluation of WP activities and drafting the Access Agreement. As HELOA Midlands Group Secretary, Will supports the Midlands Committee team in the administration and general arrangement of quarterly regional and committee meetings. Minute taking, administration of the membership and general liaison between members are the key aspects to the role.
Group Treasurer
Helen Waters-Marsh, University of Nottingham
Email: Helen.Waters-Marsh@nottingham.ac.ukOriginally a lecturer in further education, Helen made the move to HE when she became College and Vocational Manager for Aimhigher Nottinghamshire. Currently, she is at The University of Nottingham as a Schools and College Liaison Officer. Her duties as Group Treasurer include managing the group accounts, compiling the annual budget, collecting subscriptions and contributing to committee matters.
Group Web/Marketing Officer
Rowan Triffitt, Nottingham Trent University
Email: rowan.triffitt@ntu.ac.ukRowan is entering his fifth year as a HELOA member, and took up the post of Group Web/Marketing Officer in August 2012. His duties are maintaining the HELOA Midlands website and developing marketing opportunities for the group. During his term of office Rowan aims to develop the website to better serve visitors and to develop new and creative marketing ideas.

For Advisers
The HELOA Midlands Group provides an excellent service to careers professionals, teachers and other colleagues giving advice and guidance to prospective university students. The HELOA Midlands Teachers and Careers Advisers Conference is an annual event with an exciting programme covering current issues and demonstrating the higher education provision in the Midlands.
The 2013 conference will be held at Keele University on 15 May 2013.

Welcome from Group Chair:
Welcome to HELOA Midlands! We are made up of 100 members from 21 HEIs across the East and West Midlands. HELOA Midlands are an active group who regularly engage in conferences and events designed to offer IAG to prospective students considering higher education as their next step.
We meet as a group four times a year to discuss current issues and challenges facing the HE sector, as well as to share best practice. In addition, we organise a Midlands Careers Advisers and Teachers Conference, a Midlands Training Day and publish a biannual HE Choices leaflet and an annual open day poster.
If you have any suggestions or comments regarding the work of HELOA in the Midlands I’d love to hear from you.
