North East

  • Welcome to the HELOA North East Group. We represent the 16 higher education institutions of the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside. The region offers students a superb university experience in some of the most vibrant places to live and study in the UK.

We have over 100 members who meet four times a year to share best practice and discuss the bigger issues in higher education. Our members work in a variety of education liaison related roles and have a wealth of experience to draw upon.

There are other higher education institutions located in the North East region who are not listed here as they are not HELOA members. For full details of all HE providers in the region please see the UCAS website.

HELOA is the professional association of Higher Education staff and has over 800 members from over 130 UK universities and higher education institutions. Our members provide guidance, information and outreach activities to both pre 16 and post 16 students, their families and advisers throughout the UK.

With increased pressures on schools and colleges, decreasing budgets and increased competition, it has never been more important to make sure that we’re doing the best we can to inspire and support our young people to achieve their potential and raise their aspirations.

HELOA is therefore holding its first free HELOA Connect conference, designed to bring colleagues together from a range of organisations to discuss changes, challenges and objectives in this area. Universities from across the North East, North Yorkshire, Humberside and the North West will be in attendance in addition to a range of partners. This is a unique opportunity for pre-16 colleagues across the region to showcase how universities and schools are working together at secondary level to support the impartial advice and guidance gap that has been left by the removal of Aimhigher and other services.

  • Welcome from Group Chair:

    Welcome to HELOA North East.

As the 17 HEIs of the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside we meet four times a year to share best practice and discuss the issues related to our line of work. We also provide a number of training opportunities throughout the year to ensure that our members are kept up to date with the latest developments in the sector.

We produce a group booklet that gives details of all member institutions and the courses available; and we are looking at how we can continue to raise the profile of the association within the region.

If you have any questions about HELOA, or have any suggestions for the group then please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

    Best wishes,
