    Activities

HELOA Anglia universities provide a number of events and activities throughout the year to provide information, advice and guidance to prospective students, their parents and families, and advisers. Workshops, presentations, on-campus visits, and taster opportunities are available across the Anglia region, with individual universities also offering varying events on specific topics (eg. specialised admissions) or for key groups, including care leavers and mature students. More information is available on the individual university websites.

  • Welcome from Group Chair:

Welcome to HELOA Anglia. The Anglia group has a membership of 9 HEIs, and has four meetings throughout the year to share good practice and to discuss issues in the sector. We are committed to supporting one another through the exciting and challenging world of education liaison, through open discussion in our group and regular training opportunities.

As a group, we have produced a newsletter for teachers and advisors, and aim to continue looking at ways both to raise awareness of HELOA Anglia and provide useful information to our colleagues in schools and colleges.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the group and the opportunities available on the committee, and I look forward to meeting you at one of our meetings.

    Kind regards
    Laura Anderson, HELOA Anglia Chair

    Training Opportunities

All HELOA Anglia meetings begin with an update from our regional Student Finance England consultant, Blair Campbell. With on-going changes and developments in student finance, the group takes this opportunity to discuss specific changes, and to share good practice in communicating with prospective students, their advisors, and internal colleagues about finance.

The HELOA Anglia group have an annual training meeting each year, where training sessions are followed by HELOA business. The training day in October 2012 included an opportunity for informal networking over lunch, an interactive keynote session run by Richard Lister from University Campus Suffolk and a meet your market session with current sixth form students. Optional training sessions contained themes covering student recruitment, digital marketing, widening participation and communication and were delivered by Jackie Clifford of Clarity Learning and Development, Mark Yates from Essex County Council, Ben Fowler from Goldsmiths University of London, Lizzie Burrows from the University of Oxford and Nicola Wood from the University of Essex.

  • Within the group we’d like to make it easy to share best practice and communicate with other members from the region. Below are the key HELOA members from each institution, who are happy to be contacted by other members:
