Institutional Membership

Institutional membership is held by eligible institutions of higher education. 
Institutions must meet criteria set out in the Standing Orders.

  • Membership Fees

    Based on size of institution taken from latest HESA figures

  • 5 Individual Memberships Free

    5 individual memberships are included in the annual institution fee

  • Voting Rights

    At the Annual General Meeting and in elections (group and national). One vote per institution submitted by the Primary Contact

  • Committee Opportunities

    Opportunities to stand for elected trustee positions, elected group positions or appointed officer positions as part of the UK Committee

  • Membership Fees

    Opportunities to stand for elected trustee positions, elected group positions or appointed officer positions as part of the UK Committee

  • A maximum of ONE position on the HELOA Operational Group, and ONE position on the UK Committee, can be held by members from a Further Education College with Higher Education Provision

  • The position of HELOA UK Chair cannot be held by a member from a Further Education College

Membership Fees

Membership fees are based on the size of the institution, with the exception of Further Education Colleges which have a flat rate fee. These figures are taken from the latest available HESA figures.

*HELOA is VAT exempt so prices are final

Membership fees are a flat rate and therefore, not pro rata based on joining time during the membership year, which runs from 1st September – 31st August.

Institutional Primary Contact

Each institution shall nominate one primary contact, who will be the representative of all HELOA members within the institution. This is the main administrative contact for HELOA at the institution.

The role of primary contact can be transferred to another institutional member by completing the Primary Contact form.
