The next HELOA Wales meeting will take place online on Teams on Monday, 18th May starting at 9:30am and finishing at 1:00pm.

Bookings are now open for this meeting.

The Agenda (attached) includes the following sessions:

  • Reaching Gen Z in a Competitive Recruitment Landscape: Understanding Student Decision-Making and Practical Strategies for Higher Education, Dr Sarah Percy, University of Birmingham

In an increasingly competitive recruitment landscape, reaching and connecting with Gen Z audiences has become one of the biggest challenges facing higher education institutions. Today’s prospective students are seeking authenticity, belonging, employability relevance, trusted peer insight and relatable communication throughout the student recruitment journey.

This session will explore how Gen Z students are discovering, evaluating and engaging with higher education institutions – from first impressions through to decisional making. Drawing on current sector insights and higher education examples, the session will focus on realistic approaches institutions can use to reach and engage prospective students.

Participants will leave with practical ideas and adaptable approaches that can be used to strengthen student connection, communication, and engagement with prospective Gen Z students.

  • 'Participation challenges in Wales: A view of how participation compares in Wales, with an opportunity to identify and propose solutions' by Chris Laity, Universities Wales
